Exact Logistics delivers export advice

More than 50 businesses attended an event offering export advice from industry experts to help businesses in the region access European markets.

UK and European distribution specialists Exact Logistics teamed up with the UK Trade and Investment team, based at the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, to host the event at the Ramada Hotel, in Coventry

The seminar included an economic update and advice on trading with Germany from Sylvia Tunmore, head of trade at the UKTI British Consulate in Dusseldorf; advice from European palletised freight specialists Exact Logistics on the practicalities of shipping goods to Europe and guidance on the importance of language and culture in winning and retaining overseas customers.

Adam Shuter, managing director of Exact Logistics which is based in Dunchurch Trading Estate, Rugby, said: “It was fantastic to see so many representatives of the local business community in attendance and eager to learn how exporting could benefit them.

“Exporting is an avenue which cannot be ignored, particularly in the current economic climate, but often transport as the final leg in the export process gets overlooked.

“I hope delegates have gone away with some tips on how they can use transport as a competitive advantage as well as some practical tips on how to make sure their goods arrive safely.

“The idea of exporting might seem quite a daunting prospect at first, but there are opportunities for almost anyone to become involved and we would encourage as many firms as possible to do so.”

Attendees also heard about the latest support available from UK Trade and Investment and the Enterprise Europe Network to assist companies in accessing new international markets.

Mick Page, head of international trade at the Chamber, said: “Events like this help companies of all sectors and sizes understand how they can reap the rewards of exporting.

“Last year we launched our Exporting is Good for Coventry and Warwickshire campaign and we continue to raise awareness of the opportunities available and offer advice on how companies in the region can benefit.”
