PPS moves into Russian market

Esholt-based Professional Packaging Services (PPS) has extended its packaging work for Bacardi into Russia having worked with the global brand across Europe for the last six years.

Liaising with Bacardi Europe’s central hub in Geneva, as well as its UK operation, PPS has designed packaging for several Bacardi brands including Bombay Sapphire, Southern Comfort, Martini and Grey Goose.

PPS was approached by the Moscow office of Bacardi and asked to tender for the design and supply of luxury presentation packaging for the fast-emerging domestic Russian market.

After winning the tender, the company was asked to supply folding gift boxes for Bacardi Oakheart and Bacardi Superior, as well as luxury rigid boxes for Bacardi 8, Baron Otard, Aberfeldy and Dewars.

Olesya Belkina, head of purchasing at Bacardi Russia, said: “We were particularly impressed with the design and technical expertise of the PPS team, which interpreted the brief perfectly. They have not just considered the all-important shelf appeal but also the practicality of the pack in-store.

“PPS was therefore able to create an ingenious solution to ensure the glass, which is provided within the Bacardi Oakheart pack, cannot be pilfered in-store.”

PPS has now been tasked with developing the 2014 year-round ranges and Christmas promotional packs.

Managing director Simon Bell said: “We were absolutely delighted to be approached by Bacardi Russia because of the packaging we have produced for its European colleagues over the last six years.

“It demonstrates that not only have we maintained our creativity by continually providing innovative solutions but also the fact we consistently deliver on time and on budget.”

PPS, which specialises in bespoke gift and presentation packaging, was established in 1979 and offers packaging services across the drinks, confectionary, fragrance and gift markets. The company names Taittinger, Thorntons and Boots among its client base.
