Dontyne Systems Sign Major International Agreement.

A North East based highly specialised software development and Services Company has this week signed two global agreements with its American Partner Genesis Partners LP.

The deal is expected to generate over £18m in new sales for the business and facilitate ambitious expansion plans, including the opening of a new manufacturing facility in the North East.

Dontyne Systems produces a range of applications and services that are aimed at optimizing production of gear components in the power transmission industry.

The company’s products and services are already used in the end-to-end control of the gear manufacturing process by providing a common platform for design, machining and inspection.

Now Dontyne Systems and UK based engineering technology group Genesis Partners LP, have jointly developed a software platform which allows a new generation of gearing systems, patented by Genesis, to be designed, analysed, and manufactured by engineering companies worldwide.

“Convoloid®” is a patented gearing technology which, by the way of design increases the torque capacity of an equivalent gearbox using standard gearing by up to 30%. Historically the gearing industry has experienced marginal increases in torque capacity due to innovation of just one or two per cent. Convoloid® technology will prove a major step forwards in power density.

Mr Barney Berlinger JR, Senior Managing Partner of Genesis has been on Tyneside this week, to present his companies new gearing technology and to sign agreements with Dr Michael Fish, Managing Director of Dontyne System Ltd.

Barney said: “Both companies embarked on a demanding intellectual property collaboration project; Genesis with our new gearing knowledge and Dontyne with its extensive knowledge of gearing production work flow, to produce a platform which allows the new “Convoloid®” gearing to be produced by engineering companies world-wide.”

Dr Michael Fish said “Our jointly produced application allows the efficient building and testing of the new generation of gearing solutions and will be sold to companies involved in design and/or manufacturing of mechanical power transmission.

“Our application not only supports the production of the new gearing solutions, but actually analyses and improves the performance of the current gearing technology in different engineering applications such as automotive, wind turbines, aero-space environments and marine power transmission systems. Virtual testing of gearbox arrangements and manufacturing processes reduces development costs and lead times dramatically.”

The two companies see the signing of the agreements as a beginning of a long commercial Trans-Atlantic alliance.

Peter Johnson, Dontyne’s Business Development Director said “The agreements cover the proliferation of the application world-wide, but also allows Dontyne to manufacture Convoloid® gearing on behalf of clients in Europe.

“Over the coming months we will be actively seeking support from regional suppliers to build the necessary facilities that will allow us to manufacture and test high precision, high value gearing solutions here in the North East”.

David Dunn CEO of Sunderland Software City said the agreements were testimony to the hard work and expertise demonstrated by Dontyne Systems; “Dontyne Systems have established themselves as world leaders in the development of software applications for the power transmission industry and these latest agreements will truly cement their reputation as leading software developers.

“Not only will Dontyne and Genesis Partners LP jointly developed software platform be used by engineering companies world-wide, the agreement will continue to have lasting benefits for the region’s businesses as the company looks to establish its manufacturing and testing base.”
