Service sector grew in January
The UK service sector grew by 0.8% in January, data from the Office for National Statistics shows.
The biggest increases came from business services and finance; and government services which contributed 0.8% and 0.9% growth respectively.
Between December 2012 and January 2013, output was estimated to have increased by 0.3%. Transport, storage and communications businesses were the largest contributors.
The ONS said feedback from businesses in the distribution, hotel and restaurants sector suggested heavy snow fall had hampered growth.
