QMS announce results of ISO 9001 certification survey.
The ISO 9001 certification is recognised across the globe as the formal standard for implementing quality management in business. These standards are established by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), a body composed of representatives from a variety of national standards organisations who are responsible for agreeing the international standards in ISO certifications.
An ISO 9001 certificate offers businesses best-practice quality management systems that help to streamline their functions, products, services and processes. The certification is designed to help companies become more efficient, increase productivity and improve customer experience.
To receive certification, an organisation is audited based on a detailed sample of its sites, functions, products, services and processes. These are then analysed and if there are any problems or non-conformities they are flagged as needing to be addressed and resolved. When the business meets ISO 9001’s specific criteria they will receive the certification.
On receiving ISO 9001 certification, companies often find their business processes become more cost and time effective, which in turn helps to improve performance, save money and retain clients.
Some organisations gain the certification to help their business run more smoothly, others become certified due to it being a requirement of their industry and some companies turn to ISO 9001 to help gain an edge on their competition.
There is little documentation that uses research to demonstrate the actual benefits of a company holding an ISO 9001 certification. To find out more and get some concrete feedback, QMS International PLC, a leading ISO 9001 provider, sent out a survey at the end of 2012 to gain insight from their clients about the advantages of an ISO certification for their business.
They received nearly 600 detailed responses. Below are the key highlights:
- ISO 9001 certification is beneficial to any kind of company/business or industry, whatever sector, small or large.
- The certification is applicable to both B2B and B2C.
- Most businesses regularly renew their certification showing that they hold value in ISO 9001.
- The certificate helped over two thirds of companies improve their business processes.
- 75% of organisations think that ISO should be officially recommended by their trade or industry associations.
