WeSEE bolsters visual advertising push with key hire

WeSEE.com, the innovative advertising and visual classification company, today announces the hire of Sam Kayum as Chief Commercial Officer, a capacity in which he will lead the company’s continued commercial push in to the online advertising and video market. Kayum’s remit will include growing the commercial side of the business to include key partnerships with media agencies, networks and exchanges, as well as video content owners.

Kayum joins WeSEE with a strong background in online advertising. Regarded as one of the UK’s leading authorities in the field, he has advised numerous major global brands and publishers on their digital video content strategies. Prior to his joining WeSEE, Kayum served as Managing Director of SmartClip and, before that, gained eight years’ experience in the online search sector, overseeing Lycos Europe.

“Sam Kayum played a key role in building up SmartClip’s UK operations and driving its advertiser relationships,” said Angie Lopez, Co-Founder of WeSEE. “Following the recent launch of WeSEE’s breakthrough video advertising solution, Kayum’s insight and experience will be invaluable to the senior management in setting up advertiser relationships, particularly those that are video oriented. He will ultimately be responsible for driving the company’s digital advertising business as well as managing external relationships with key digital technology partners.”

The appointment of Kayum is pivotal for WeSEE, coming on the heels of the company’s launch of its video advertising solution for content owners and advertisers. The solution enables automatic placement of relevant ads within video content’s most appropriate areas, targeted using visual relevance.

“I’m excited to join WeSEE, an innovative company that is truly disrupting online advertising as we know it with its groundbreaking enhanced visual and video advertising proposition,” said Sam Kayum. “The company is uniquely positioned to improve digital advertising in relation to content, thanks to its smart visual recognition technology which ensures that ads are highly targeted and appropriate to the content amongst which they are placed.”
