Electric cars for test at Big Eco Show

A range of low emission and electric cars will be available for test driving at next week’s Big Eco Show, the only large-scale event dedicated to help small businesses in North East England discover what the green economy can do for them.

The Show, which will be staged on 18 April at the Centre for Life in Newcastle, is being organised by Daisy Green Media & Events and ClimateNE following the overwhelming success of the region’s first ever Big Eco Show, which took place last September.

Visitors will be able to choose from four cars to test drive during the course of the day – the BMW 3 Series 320d Efficient Dynamics Touring Automatic; the Nissan Leaf; the Renault Twizy; and the Kangoo Fluencehas.

Nicola Alexander, from Daisy Green, said: “North East England has in place a full electric vehicle charging infrastructure – the UK’s largest with 400 public access charge points. The Big Eco Show is perfect place to come along and test drive an electric car as well check out some low emission vehicles too.”

The day-long event will also include an exhibition, three key note speakers, a lunchtime networking session, and three afternoon workshops.

Jennifer Atkinson, ClimateNE, said: “There are a growing number of green firms in the North East coming up with clever products and services to address both the impacts of climate change and to reduce emissions. The Big Eco Show is a fantastic way to showcase these businesses while providing advice, information and inspiration for others.

“Ultimately, it’s the place to be for those wishing to gain inspiration and ideas around the green commercial opportunities to assist business growth, improve resilience to the impacts of climate change, and to reduce costs by cutting emissions.”

Tickets for the Eco Show are free. It is recommended that test drives are booked in advance. Visit http://bigecoshow-es2004.eventbrite.co.uk/?rank=1# for booking information.
