Lobster event claws in £300K for regional charities
The Lobster Charity Ball at Hardwick Hall later this month will see the annual event’s fundraising top £300,000 for local charities.
The first Lobster Festival was held at Hardwick Hall in 2006 and over the years has raised much needed funds for a range of north east charities from the Percy Hedley Foundation and Make a Child Smile to Charlie Bear, and last year alone raised more than £43,000 for Butterwick Hospice based in Stockton. The Lobster Festival’s sister event, The Oyster Festival has also raised more than £450,000 for charities since it began in 2003.
This year’s nominated charity for the Lobster Charity Ball, which takes place on Friday 26th April is Daisy Chain, the Norton based charity which supports families affected by autism.
Autism not only affects the child with the condition but also parents, carers and siblings, and the charity provides a range of services to meet the needs of each family member as well as offering fun activities to bring them closer together as a unit.
John Adamson, Managing Director of Ramside Estates Group, said: “The Lobster event is always hugely anticipated each year and many businesses and individuals return year after year. The event also provides us with an opportunity to give something back to the local community and support charities in our region. To have raised over £300,000 before this year’s event even takes place is a tremendous achievement, which we’re very proud of.
“There are more than half a million people in the UK with autism, which affects more than 2.3 million people and Daisy Chain is a really fantastic charity that supports people affected in our region. With about 900 people attending the event later this month we hope to be able to even more much needed funds for the charity.”
Matt Simpson, Chief Executive of Daisy Chain, said: “We greatly appreciate the ongoing support of John and the team at Ramside Estates and consider it an honor to be chosen as the charity for this flagship event. We are looking forward to an amazing evening of entertainment and a chance to raise vitally needed funds for the charity.’
Guests at the Lobster Charity Ball can look forward to fantastic celebrity entertainment line-up on the night including performances from pop duo Go West, Britain’s Got Talent finalists Jonathan and Charlotte as comical ventriloquist Paul Zerdin as well as a fashion show from Van Mildert.
