Software companies partner for safety critical software management
Southampton and St. Albans, UK – 12 April 2013 – Critical Software Technologies has joined forces with Serena Software, a company that orchestrates IT for enterprise organisations across the application delivery lifecycle, to deliver a Safety Critical Certification Management solution. This joint solution will help software developers working in the aerospace and defence sectors to make sure that their projects meet safety standards such as DO-178C from RTCA, Inc. and EUROCAE.
The solution will manage the certification requirements and process using a set of pre-defined procedures, reports, dashboards and document templates based on the process automation capabilities available within Serena Business Manager (SBM). This includes:
Document templates with associated process driven activity for creation, review and approval for all key documents
Specific dashboards aligned to status of document progress throughout the lifecycle
Dashboards and reports against activities associated with objective alignment and governance (audit) reports to confirm process adherence by the customer in support of specific safety critical requirements.
The Critical Software team is providing expertise in DO-178 to support the customisation of SBM. This will increase its value to avionics software developers and support the creation of DO-178C certified software.
One of Critical Software’s specialisms is in design and development services relating to complex, software intensive, safety-critical systems in the avionics, space, energy and defence industries.
“Critical is very happy to be working with Serena to create an environment that is optimised to support our customers developing software applications for certification to DO-178C,” said Ian Hodgson, Business Development Manager. “Using such an environment will help our customers to reduce development costs, whilst maintaining software quality.”
“The partnership with Critical will use their considerable domain expertise to complement the process and automation capabilities that Serena can deliver,” said Nick Aves, UK Sales Manager Aerospace & Defence. “This joint solution will provide greater visibility, traceability and efficiency around the software development process for organisations that have to meet DO-178C, as well as those that require similar certification management for DO-254 and ISO 26262.”
Serena allows IT organisations to coordinate disparate processes, multiple tools and globally distributed teams from initial business request, all the way to final production release, helping IT to engage more rapidly and accurately with the business while maintaining enterprise visibility and compliance to corporate and regulatory standards.
