Don’t miss the CIPR Northern Conference 2013 – Power to the People!

Leading Hillsborough campaigners, senior corporate communicators and the new Executive Director of Government Communications will be giving their views on PR and communications at ‘Power to the People’, the theme of this year’s CIPR Northern Conference in Newcastle.

The event will focus on how organisations and PR practitioners are getting to grips with the new media landscape, and the ever-increasing range of skills needed to communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders in an era when anyone can be a publisher and ‘the people’ are taking control.

Tickets are on sale now and delegates can save 15% with a special early bird discount if you book before this Friday 19 April via Eventbrite.

Chris Taylor MCIPR, chair of the CIPR North East, said: “In a post-Leveson world where the traditional media is on the back foot and social media is everywhere and all seeing, the opportunities and challenges for professional communicators have never been greater.

“We have an exciting itinerary for ‘Power to the People’ with a fantastic variety of keynote speakers, master classes, two unique ‘Share This Too’ panel sessions and plenty of opportunity to network, so delegates will be able to make the most of their time and really benefit from attending.”

The CIPR Northern Conference 2013 features a packed schedule with a diverse range of speakers including:

• Margaret Aspinall, Chair, Hillsborough Family Support Group
• Guy Esnouf MCIPR, Head of PR & Public Affairs, E.ON UK
• David Payne, Never Seconds
• Neil Midgley, Media Writer, The Daily Telegraph
• John McAndrew, Associate Editor, Sky News
• Milorad Adjer, Managing Director, Ipsos Mori Reputation Centre
• Alex Aiken MCIPR, Executive Director of Government Communications

There will also be some special ‘Share This Too’ panel sessions hosted by joint editors of the Social Media Handbook for PR Professionals; Rob Brown FCIPR and Stephen Waddington MCIPR and featuring a number of contributors to the new book, which is due out in July.

The conference will take place on Wednesday 19 June at the Great North Museum: Hancock in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Now in its 12th year the objectives of this high profile event are to provide outstanding learning and networking opportunities for PR professionals through a mixture of challenging keynote speeches and practical master classes and workshops. The event is open to members and non-members alike.

Delegates will also be invited to attend an informal drinks reception to close the event whilst taking in the stunning surroundings of the Museum.
