Letting success for Lingfield Point
A growing gaming firm is making a £10 million expansion after being bought by American giant Turtle Beach.
Lygo International will change its name to become part of the Turtle Beach family, and move to a 120,000sq ft space at Lingfield Point in Darlington.
The expansion came about after the Chief Executive of Turtle Beach - the world number one in gaming audio - visited the UK from the firm’s HQ in New York, and loved what he saw.
Turtle Beach toured the North East looking for the best site for the company – and came back to the firm’s original base at Lingfield Point where Lygo had been based for 10 years.
As well as the quality of the space and the excellent facilities on site another draw was the availability of 10mg broadband – which offers the online firm great connectivity.
Eddie Humphries, Estate Manager, said: “The company has been a long term customer here at Lingfield Point and it is fantastic to see the ambitious firm doing so well and we look forward to welcoming them as Turtle Beach.
“This is a great deal for us to secure – it’s a massive vote of confidence and a thumbs up for both Lingfield and Darlington – in what is a difficult market.”
Paul Crooks, Senior Director of Finance and Operations, Turtle Beach Europe Ltd, said: “The expansion will create up to 50 jobs and potential for many more.
“The move represents an investment of £10 million in the future of the company over the next few years – and we are delighted to be staying at Lingfield Point.
“The facilities at Lingfield Point are second to none and the fact that Turtle Beach looked around the area and couldn’t find anything to rival them proves the point.”
The investment will be in extra staff, refurbishing the premises to a very high quality and raising our inventory levels to support the European business.
