Mobile app company expands into larger premises

A mobile app company is expanding its North East footprint to move into larger premises and take on new staff.

MymCart, a digital company which specialises in mobile websites and transactional mobile apps will move its production centre into a larger site and will also take on four new members of staff.

They are also working with the University of Teesside’s ‘Graduates for Business’ initiative which supports graduates onto the career ladder by helping them find employment with locally based businesses.

Mark Kuhillow, managing director of MymCart, said: “It’s fantastic to be in a position to take on four new team members and we are working with the University of Teesside’s graduate recruitment programme to help identify talented individuals with the relevant skill sets.

“When planning our growth strategy, it became obvious that this type of collaboration was a great way for us to achieve our growth while strengthening our roots locally.

“The university and IP Group team have been very helpful in helping us achieve our goals.

“We have already built over 10,000 mobile and tablet websites and so we see this expansion as our way of strengthening our commercial position while also putting something back in to the North East community.”

The company offers the means for small businesses to create their own mobile websites or transactional mobile apps, at a fraction of the time and price of building a solution from scratch.

Jan Harris, graduate employability officer at Teesside University said: “We’re delighted that Graduates for Business, funded via the European Regional Development Fund, is able to support the expansion of MymCart in the North East through the graduate recruitment and wage subsidy scheme.

“One graduate has already been appointed and we are now advertising further roles through our scheme, which is open to graduates of any UK university.”

MymCart is also among the portfolio of companies that the Finance for Business North East Technology Fund, managed by IP Group plc, invested in last year.

Ian Wilson, investment manager at IP Group, commented: “Mark is a seasoned entrepreneur and he and his team have worked hard to reach their target markets with what is a compelling product set.

“The market looks very promising and the Graduates for Business scheme is sure to help get the right team in place.”
