Two new training centres for training provider

A rapidly expanding north east training company has invested a six-figure sum in acquiring two new training centres and a new head office.

Resources North East (RENE) has opened a new construction training centre in Jarrow and an IT training facility and new head office in Sunderland. The company already has two training centres in North Shields.

The 10,000 sq ft Jarrow centre on Bede Industrial Estate will be used to train construction apprentices and uniformed services students, as well as provide support for local school children. The 4,000 sq ft facility on Sunderland Enterprise Park will be a base for IT apprentices. RENE’s North Shields centres deliver training for the unemployed and those not in employment, education or training (NEETs).

RENE was founded by Viv Warr in 1990 and started out as an IT and software development company. Under the leadership of Tom Doyle - who took over as managing director in 2000 - the firm has since increased its services to include training. Twelve months ago the company began offering apprenticeships and demand in this new market has driven the acquisition of the three new properties.

RENE will now be able to train an additional 200 apprentices each year.

The company, which is a member of north east training professional body, Northumbria Learning Providers, has also taken on six new staff.

Managing director of Resources North East, Tom Doyle said: “Since we started offering apprenticeships we’ve seen rapid growth in revenue that has allowed us to invest in these higher quality learning environments. In order to further expand we knew we required sites that are easily accessible to learners using public transport.”

RENE provides apprenticeships in IT, business administration, customer service and construction. It also offers bespoke training courses to businesses in a range of sectors. Clients include Carrot Media, Norham High School, Letslivehere, King’s School and Jensen Construction.

Northumbria Learning Providers (NLP) is an association of training providers that operate within Northumberland, North Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside. NLP supports its members to provide quality training and promote their services. For more information about NLP and how to join go to www.northumbrialp.co.uk
