North east businesses get help to go social
Companies keen to know how tweets, fans and followers can boost their bottom line are to get a helping hand as a new Social Media Apprenticeship is launched.
Access Training has introduced the course in response to an increasing number of SMEs that recognise the value of using social media as a marketing tool but don’t have the resources to take advantage of it.
Apprentice Kate Veitch, 21, from Lobley Hill in Gateshead, is the first person to enrol on the Advanced Apprenticeship in Social Media & Digital Marketing which takes 12 - 18 months to complete.
The programme covers search engine optimisation (SEO) and website design together with a variety of social media tools and techniques. By the end of the course, the apprentice will be capable of planning and delivering a tailored programme of social media and digital marketing activities for their employer.
The course includes platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin and leads to a Level 3 Diploma in Social Media for Business.
Managing director of Access Training, Malcolm Armstrong said: “Social Media can be a very cost effective form of marketing if you know how to use it. Most businesses are either already dabbling in it or are considering introducing it as a means of communicating with their customers. As a result, there is a requirement for businesses to recruit employees that are keen to work in this area and to develop these skills.”
Access Training is based on the Team Valley and also provides apprenticeships in business administration, accounting, team leading & management, customer service, teaching & learning, manufacturing operations, security systems, engineering and warehousing & distribution.
