Local businessman provides finance solutions for SMEs

After a successful career heading up several of his own businesses, Steve McTaggart found happiness in a professional service franchise, The Interface Financial Group (IFG).

McTaggart’s prior extensive business experience focused on international trade. He built his most recent business around the import and export of materials and goods for the aerospace industry.

In late 2007 Steve McTaggart, now 61, made the decision to sell the business which he had owned and managed since 1994 and move into a new profession.

McTaggart began to look into opportunities which would once again allow him to be his own boss; this time turning to franchising and The Interface Financial Group.

The move to franchising: “I would have used the service myself“

“After deciding that I wanted to go back to work, I was looking for an opportunity which would suit my business-to-business background but also give me the chance to do something different.

“IFG offers a service which I felt I could really get behind. I would definitely have used the service in the past and can see how many SMEs will benefit from the organisation’s spot factoring facility.”

The Interface Financial Group offers a unique invoice discounting service, which allows users to sell an invoice for an agreed percentage of its worth. Unlike other providers, IFG is tailored specifically to SMEs and offers a one-off service, with no obligation to use the facility again.

“I was also keen to get involved with this particular franchise due to the international nature of the company. I’m involved with another business which provides a variety of solutions for international organisations, so the opportunity for cross-border spot factoring was a definite part of the appeal.”

IFG operates from locations in four continents, in countries including the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, and the USA.

Life Now

“Operating my IFG franchise offers a nice alternative to developing another company from scratch. It’s also nice to be able to work from the comfort of my own home, and to take on as many or as few clients as I like.”

All IFG franchisees are able to operate from a home-based office, significantly reducing the overhead costs that are often incurred when setting up a franchise.

“I think that IFG will be the perfect career move for me, and I’m looking forward to the networking and contact building opportunities that the role has to offer.”
