Manchester interior designers see strong 2012 growth
Interior design studio NoChintz has posted strong growth for the past 12 months, with rises in their number of employees, turnover increases and physical expansion.
The Manchester-based company saw revenues rise to £1.55m for the interior design side of the business, while the establishment of a branding division saw the company grow significantly.
Last year turnover was £626,000 while the business went through a consolidation period during which the directors laid the grounds for expansion.
Core staff members were grown from 13 to 16 people, and the firm said it is breaking the U.S. market with appointments on projects in Idaho and Virginia.
The company said that although it is seeing considerable growth and success, it is still under the ownership of its three original directors, Dominic Beardwell, Lucy Goddard and Natalie Gray.
Operations director, Dominic Beardwell, commented: “We have had a fantastic year and I am delighted that we have broken through the £1.5m barrier.
“It’s a huge increase on previous results and it’s important that we now focus on retaining our sustained approach to growth and reinvest the fruits of the year’s labour back into the business.
“Since we established ourselves in the market in 2007 we enjoyed a rapid period of growth, but my experience is to be prudent and cautious, so rather than accelerate growth further in 2011 and 2012, we concentrated on getting our operations and processes in place and we have now gained ISO accreditation and as well as a Gold Standard for the Investors in People award.
“This strategy is now clearly working for us and we’ve got high hopes for next year with more than £1m of projects already confirmed.”
NoChintz said its decision to establish a branding studio, alongside the existing interior design side of the business, was influenced by customer demand for graphics support.
The branding leg started trading late last year, and its clients now include big household names such as Asda.
Mr Beardwell added: “The branding division is performing exceptionally well and we look forward to announcing results for its first year’s trading later in the year.
“It’s fair to say it’s already made a huge impact though and with blue chip clients like Asda already using our services I’ve every confidence in its future growth.”
