First Water (FW) Ltd. based in Marlborough were established in 2001 to focus on the high end high performance wound care market. Impressive product development and a commitment to core technology which encompasses a proprietary range of biocompatible superabsorbent polymers, has helped establish the business as a major player and technical leader in the sector.
The need to ensure that staff within the business continually focused on innovation, efficiency and quality meant that staff development has emerged as a key area of investment for the business. Using Business Impact, training in Level 2 and Level 3 BIT has been implemented easily in the business, and the operational teams are now empowered to transform the business on an ongoing basis to ensure there is a team solution to improving quality and efficiency in all production.
This training programme is built around core best practice in business management and suits businesses of all sizes. The training is an ideal complement to job specific qualifications and technical teams, and covers all the principles of lean enterprise to help eliminate waste, reduce costs and boost productivity, whilst maintaining an absolute commitment to quality. Level 2 qualifications offer cross-functional knowledge that help learners gain an understanding of lean enterprise principles, and develops the practical skills which deliver realistic tangible work based results. For an organisation at the leading edge of technology like First Water, BIT provided an ideal focus for staff across the business, to engage and really apply continuous improvement methods.
David Steel from Business Impact commented: “We have many synergies with First Water, and so from the very start of our training, we could see the benefits to the business. The team at First Water were outstanding in their commitment to BIT and the longer term business benefits of using BIT within the organisation can really help with the growth of the business, and the implementation of best practice in a technical business.”
Dr. Mark O’Brien, Head of Operations at First Water (FW) commented: “We are committed to the continuous improvement process and have used Business Impact effectively to develop our internal teams through BIT Level 2 / 3. Our sector is driven by innovation, quality and high level compliance.
