C & A Pumps partners with Gee Dee
LEADING pump and engineering solutions provider C & A Pumps and Engineering is helping environmental waste management company Gee Dee Tankers secure an important industry accreditation which could help it secure new clients.
C & A Pumps is working with Graythorp Industrial Estate-based Gee Dee Tankers to fast track them through the administrative processes needed to be awarded the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certificates.
International standards such as these can bring major benefits to businesses as they simplify the technical specifications of products and services and break down barriers to international trade. They also help reassure consumers that products are safe, efficient and environmentally friendly.
However, to be awarded the accreditation companies must demonstrate that the health and safety and environmental processes they have in place are of a high standard and properly documented, which many companies struggle to do.
And that’s where C & A Safety Solutions, the training arm of C & A Pumps and Engineering, stepped in to help.
Owner Alan Roberts said: “We know how hard a process it can be for companies to properly document all the evidence needed to be considered for the ISO accreditations so we do it all for them. We go through their various systems to make sure everything is in place and then pull all the evidence together in a suitable format for assessment.
“It’s really important that businesses like Gee Dee Tankers are judged at this level because it’s the benchmark that most industries internationally work to. The ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certificates offer the reassurance that you have been independently audited and will enhance your ability to secure work with those larger companies.”
C & A Safety Solutions was launched last autumn to deliver highly specialised health and safety and management courses for North East manufacturing and engineering companies. Its clients include Hartlepool-based Camerons Brewery and JCS Contractors Clarion Homes and Cleveland Potash.
Evan Edwards, site manager at Gee Dee Tankers said: “Since we started working with Alan and his team the whole process has been simplified and we’re confident we’ll secure the ISO accreditations in the near future.”
Alan added: “The relationship we’ve established with Gee Dee Tankers as a result of the ISO work we’ve done is proving to be mutually beneficial as they’ve now asked us to re-write their health and safety policy and we call on their services if we need waste removing from a site we’re working on. We’re two growing local businesses so it’s great we can support each other.”
