North West surveyors appointed to Capstone Care project

Chartered surveyors Jones Melling have been appointed by a Bury-based care home, Capstone Care, to oversee a £3m construction project in Greater Manchester.

The North West surveyor will look over the project, which will see a 53-bed dementia service facility built.

The construction scheme will be linked to an existing residential facility at Walshaw Hall that was built in 1854 and currently caters for 50 residents.

Bury Council approved the plans in February, and the build was announced this month to coincide with Dementia Awareness Week (19th - 25th May), as figures show that 80,000 people in the North West suffer from the condition today.

Ken Jones, joint founder and managing director of Jones Melling, said: “We are really pleased to have been appointed by Capstone Care and DWA Architects, and to have the opportunity to work on such a high-profile project.

“The Walshaw Hall development further demonstrates our capabilities, and continued growth, in delivering large-scale healthcare projects.”

John Odell, joint managing director of Capstone Care Ltd, said: “There couldn’t be a better time to highlight plans to extend Walshaw Hall’s dementia care offering than during Dementia Awareness Week.

“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Jones Melling and DWA Architects on this project. It will enable us to deliver first-rate care to people in a state-of-the-art environment.”

Work will begin on the site later this year and the project is expected to finish in 2014, ready to start 24-hour services for dementia patients.
