Local Businessman Launches Global Social Networking Site
A businessman from the North-East has created a social networking site aimed at connecting vehicle enthusiasts from around the globe.
Carflash.com is the brainchild of Kasim Malik, who owns Tyneside-based computer store Computer Orbit. Malik has invested nearly £200,000 to create, develop and grow the site to achieve international success, following in the footsteps of Facebook and Twitter.
The niche social network is a free digital platform for the public to indulge their driving passions online. They can connect with like-minded people, share motor-related images and videos, browse auto events and discuss their love of cars, motorbikes and the like.
Project manager at Carflash.com, Paul Burkin, said: “With the continued rise in popularity of social media, particularly for niche interests, we saw an ideal opportunity to create a platform for people who love their cars and want to connect with others who feel the same.
“By having a focused site, Carflash.com allows users to engage and connect on a single topic, eliminating all other irrelevant and distractive content. With the 24/7 world we now live in there can be a lot of online noise and a sense of information overload, Carflash.com is completely different in that it is specifically about vehicles.
“The new site has all the flexibility and functionality that people have come to expect from a social network: you can create a personal profile; find friends; upload images and videos and a whole lot more.
“You can browse and ‘Flash’ other users’ cars which you like or perhaps aspire to own. You can message other users, document projects and create a profile for every car you’ve ever owned, building a unique driving history”
The website itself was developed by Gateshead-based digital agency, AYO Digital, and has taken over seven months to complete due to its innovative nature and attention to detail.
Burkin continued: “The idea came from Kasim’s major passion – supercars, however, you don’t have to own a supercar to feel at home using Carflash.com. It is a site for anyone who is proud of their vehicle and wants to show it off. This is a really exciting time for us and we sincerely hope users enjoy it as much as we do.”
Carflash.com launched on 24th May 2013 and to mark this occasion Car Flash hosted a family-friendly event at Newcastle Racecourse on Saturday, 25th May 2013 10am-4pm. Hundreds of the North East public took advantage of the complementary car wash and additional activities included face painting, live music, a chance to win a Ferrari track day and much more.
