ACCELERATE 2013 opens for business at stock exchange
Liverpool-hosted flagship business event, ACCELERATE 2013, was kicked off on Wednesday at the official Market Opening Ceremony of the London Stock Exchange.
Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, waved the flag for the high-growth business festival as he opened trading in the central London Stock Exchange atrium.
The Coutts-sponsored event hopes to raise awareness around the role high-growth businesses have in the national economy, with high profile speakers such as Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, Paul Lindley, founder and chief executive of Ella’s Kitchen and Thea Green, founder of Nails Inc.
Andrew Haigh, executive director of client propositions at Coutts, commented: “With just six per cent of British business creating more than half of the nation’s new jobs, it’s vital that these businesses are encouraged to prosper and succeed.
“That is why ACCELERATE 2013 is such a fantastic initiative - we are proud to be supporting the festival and our new window display is an illustration of that support.”
Mayor Joe Anderson said: “The City of Liverpool is proud to be hosting ACCELERATE 2013, which will be a showcase of all that is great about British business.
“Today’s London countdown highlights the fantastic support from the Capital and illustrates huge national appetite for a festival of this kind.”
Max Steinberg, Chief Executive of Liverpool Vision, added: “London Stock Exchange is the beating heart of British business, and the ideal setting to begin the countdown to ACCELERATE 2013.
“We very much welcome the support of such an influential business organisation. We are looking forward to supercharging the debate on economic growth in Liverpool on 27 June when some of our best businesses meet their national counterparts in what will be a wonderful event.”
Head the London Stock Exchange-based most successful growth market, AIM, Marcus Stuttard, said: “Britain’s high growth businesses are pivotal to the long term health of the UK economy.
“For them to succeed, create jobs and grow into true businesses of scale, there must be a cohesive funding infrastructure underpinned by a community of businesses and advisors which work together.
“That’s why London Stock Exchange Group is thrilled to support ACCELERATE 2013, which brings together high growth businesses from across the whole of the UK.”
