TTE supports AMEC with Re-Engineer Programme

The TTE Technical Training Group is delivering a Re-Engineer programme for AMEC to support the development of technicians for the oil & gas sector.

A group of five technicians, who have backgrounds in different areas of industry, are spending eight weeks at TTE’s fully-equipped training centre in Middlesbrough, North East England.

Upon successful completion of the programme, the technicians who are from across the UK, will be deployed on onshore and offshore assets.

TTE is delivering an Instrumentation Technician programme, which is following ECITB Training Standards that will lead to a Level 3 Competence Qualification in the workplace.

The programme combines knowledge and practical skills with 80% delivered in TTE’s high-specification, industry standard workshops and 20% in the classroom.

Central to the practical technical training are modules covering a range of oil & gas industry kit and equipment as well as undertaking certified courses including CompEx for Instrumentation disciplines as well as Joint Integrity.

TTE is an accredited CompEX training provider with extensive experience in delivering electrical installation and maintenance training in the UK and around the world. TTE works closely with the Academy of Joint Integrity to provide accredited Joint Integrity training where delegates get the opportunity to hear, first hand, from the manufacturers of joint and sealing technologies.

TTE is globally-renowned for delivering technical training for the up-skilling or re-engineering of technicians for the oil & gas, manufacturing and process industries. It has devised and executed similar re-skilling programmes in the past for companies including Wood Group PSN and Shell.

As an organisation with charitable status TTE is able to reinvest profits from its UK and International commercial activities into its apprenticeship training programmes in Middlesbrough. TTE is an experienced provider of in-country technical training and has for many years dispatched its expert trainers/assessors around the world to deliver training and assessment at customers’ plants, assets and installations.

Furthermore, TTE is helping developing nations establish their own technical training facilities as it makes use of the skills and knowledge acquired of the last 20 years of operations on Teesside.

Steve Grant, Managing Director of The TTE Technical Training Group, said: “There is a real demand for skilled and competent technicians from the oil & gas industry and programmes such as this are playing a part in helping companies such as AMEC re-engineer individuals for careers in the sector.”

He added: “We have developed a suite of facilities and programmes led by industry-experienced trainers that meet the requirements of the oil & gas industry in the UK and around the world. These AMEC technicians are utilising a range of facilities and equipment at our training centre that will effectively prepare them for their future roles in the oil & gas sector.”

Blair Barclay, ECITB’s, Technical Programmes Manager added: “It has been a pleasure to work with TTE at Middlesbrough, to help deliver the Re-Engineer course on Instrument & Control to the group of AMEC trainees. The ECITB is working hard to approve providers, and develop courses and qualifications, allowing workers to adapt and develop their skills. It is only by doing this that we can help address the skills shortages in the North Sea.”

Alick Watt, Operations Director for AMEC’s Brownfield business said, “Attracting new talent into oil and gas is vital to the future success of the industry. We’ve had great success placing re-skilled technicians across our North Sea business and AMEC is pleased to support such an important industry initiative.”
