Gadget geeks needn’t suffer from cable chaos
Technology addicts with growing collections of gadgets are being urged to ensure that the increased cabling in their homes doesn’t cause a mess or safety problem.
D-Line, the trunking solutions specialist, say that as people gather more equipment in their homes, it can create unsightly cable clutter or even be dangerous for children and pets.
Recent research carried out by D-Line showed that, despite this being the so-called “wireless age”, there is 170 metres of exposed cables in the average UK home.
Paul Ruddick, founder of D-Line said: “Technology is great, but often the required cabling that comes with it can become a real problem. Even the most basic of homes will have problems around the TV, with such things as DVD recorders, Freeview or Sky boxes and other paraphernalia ensuring the wiring mounts up. Homes which have such things as surround sound systems see this increased significantly. The irony of the wireless generation is that even a wi-fi router has two cables.
“This can be a real problem, not only in terms of aesthetics, but also for the safety of adventurous children or pets. Few people want the hassle of channelling walls to hide cabling, so they search for a great looking alternative to traditional trunking, as well as other products to supplement that.
“We are now selling our range of products across the UK, as well as into 20 global markets, because this is a problem which is common to households all over the world.”
D-Line’s products include aesthetically pleasing trunking and:
Cable Tidy Units to keep multi-socket plugs and their cable wiring in place and out of sight Cable Tidy Tubes to ensure multiple cables travelling between equipment is neatly contained Floor Cable Covers to make cable runs from desks to walls safe and tidy Cable & Plug ID Kits to avoid having to waste time working out what plug goes where when moving equipment A range of desk accessories to ensure wiring around desks stays secure and neat, even when equipment such as laptops has been removed.
