West Midlands MEP toasts Fracino's exporting success

West Midlands Conservative MEP Anthea McIntyre celebrated the trailblazing export achievements of espresso and cappuccino machine manufacturer Fracino during a tour of its expanded premises.

Ms McIntryre heard how Fracino, which is marking its 50th anniversary this year, built a global export business from a standing start in 2008 into one which distributes its machines to over 50 countries across five continents - and with exports now accounting for 28% of its £3.6 million turnover.

2013 is proving a momentous year for the the third generation family business which has scoped four awards in as many months. The manufacturer’s association, the EEF bestowed its highest UK accolade - the ‘Winner of Winners’ award - on Fracino along with the ‘Outstanding Export Award’ title.

The 40-strong company, which has invested over £1m in doubling the size of its manufacturing base in Aston, also received the ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ title from trade publication Essential Café and the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Excellence in International Business’ award.

Said Ms McIntrye, a champion of enterprises who seek to expand their horizons and growth opportunities via international trade:

“I am delighted to congratulate the management and staff of the UK’s only manufacturer of cappuccino and espresso coffee machines on their achievements.

“It is great news for Fracino and is further proof that UK manufacturers are amongst the best in the world.

“In my role as the Conservative Employment spokesman in Europe, I am particularly keen to highlight the successes of our local businesses and to do whatever I can to help them thrive.”

Fracino MD Adrian Maxwell commented: “We really appreciate Ms McIntryre taking time out of her busy schedule to see at first hand our exporting developments and expansion. Our team very much enjoyed her interest support at such an exciting time when export orders continue to pour in daily from Europe and countries further afield including Romania, Peru, Korea and Russia.”

The third generation family business comprises founder Frank Maxwell, MD Adrian Maxwell, a former Rolls-Royce engineer, Adrian’s wife Marion, the credit controller and their daughters Rebecca and Katrina, whose respective roles are service coordinator and purchase ledger.
