Miller Launches Redcar Development

Leading housebuilder Miller Homes is braced for a flood of enquiries following the launch of its new Wheatlands Chase development in Redcar which saw a number of its plots snapped up over its opening weekend.

Following the announcement that Miller Homes was to redevelop the former Redcar College site to create 158 new homes, the award winning housebuilder was inundated with interest as over 900 prospective buyers expressed their interest in the development located next to Redcar Racecourse prior to its launch.

The sales centre and showhomes at Wheatlands Chase, which offers a mix of high-quality three, four and five-bedroom homes, is now open to the public following a special preview event which saw 142 people visit the development over the opening weekend despite a month’s worth of rain falling across the region on the Saturday.

28-year-old Samantha Harland and her fiancé Alex Kay, 30, reserved their four-bedroom Rolland home over the launch weekend. She said: “We’ve been eagerly anticipating the opening of Miller Homes’ Wheatlands Chase development and couldn’t wait to see what housetypes they would have available. It’s a fantastic development as it’s so close to local amenities and in a great area of Redcar.

“We were really interested in Wheatlands Chase and on seeing the development and the Rolland showhome we fell in love with the style and spacious qualities of the property. We could really imagine ourselves living there so we reserved our new home there and then.”

With prices starting from £154,950, the house types currently available at the highly anticipated development are The Tolkien, The Orwell, The Buchan, The Glenmuir, The Greene, The Rolland and The London.

Those looking to secure their new home at Wheatlands Chase can now take a look around the development’s two four-bedroom showhomes, The Rolland and The Buchan, as well as its three-bedroom Hawthorne view home.

Miller Homes North East sales director Steve McElroy said: “With its prime coastal location, near to Redcar Racecourse, Wheatlands Chase is situated in a very desirable area and this has certainly been reflected in the overwhelming response which we have received so far and we anticipate interest will continue to grow.

“People who choose a Miller home at Wheatlands Chase can enjoy a range of benefits that come with owning a new build home including our two year customer care service, a 10-year industry guarantee offered by The National House Building Council and improved energy efficiency.

“Wheatlands Chase offers a range of stylish yet practical and affordable homes suitable for a variety of buyers, and for those in need of a helping hand to secure their dream home we have a number of incentives available. This can mean that the deposit required by house hunters to secure their perfect home at our new development could be less than people think.”

25-year-old Lauren Dunhill and her partner Simon Tonge, 27, were the first to put down an early bird reservation after choosing a three-bedroom Orwell home when they visited the development.

Lauren said: “The Orwell will make an ideal home for us as we’re first-time buyers looking to get onto the property ladder and there’s the added incentive that we can purchase our new home through the assistance of the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.

“We’re very excited about purchasing our first home together at Wheatlands Chase which is close to both of our families and our friends. We both currently live at home with our parents so we’re looking forward to having our independence, even more so as we’ll be living in such a beautiful home together.”

To help potential purchasers at Wheatlands Chase, Miller Homes is offering a range of incentive schemes to help them make the move they need including its Home Exchange scheme and the new Government-backed scheme Help to Buy.

Help to Buy, which is now available to home movers as well as first time buyers, offers assistance for buyers who only have a small deposit of around 5% through the provision of a 20% equity loan from the Government for those who meet the qualifying criteria, meaning buyers could only need to secure up to a 75% mortgage from a provider.
