Ex-DFDS Seaways Head StartsTravel & Tourism Consultancy

John Crummie, ex Managing Director of DFDS Seaways has set up John Crummie Consulting, a specialist leisure, travel and tourism strategic advice-led business and based in the North East.

With over 30 years’ experience gained with major companies in the leisure, travel and tourism sectors, Crummie stepped down from the Managing Director role of DFDS Seaways earlier this year after heading up the operation. Crummie previously worked with the Rank Organisation, Butlins and WH Smiths.

Crummie has now established John Crummie Consulting with a national client base and which is built around a network of associates, partner companies and industry experts that have expertise in strategic issues and operational challenges.

“This is certainly a challenging time for travel and tourism both domestically and inbound and for the North East region, tourism is a critical driver to injecting much needed growth in the local economy. There is a positive legacy impact of the Olympics and a strong transportation network in the North East but to create and sustain a competitive edge, given resource limitations, there is a need for leisure, travel and tourism organisations to invest in sustainable marketing strategies for their brands and promotional campaigns that really stand out,” comments Crummie.

One of the company’s first clients was Promovere a North East company based in Ponteland who specialise in social marketing and face-to-face marketing to help public and private sector companies develop brand advocates.
