Apprentice steps up to managerial role at AMH

Workspace solutions specialists, AMH Workspace, have promoted Steven Kirby, one of their Senior Installers to Sites Manager. Steven joined the company 22 years ago as an apprentice joiner at the age of 17. He is now responsible for managing the installation teams and ensuring that all projects are managed in a professional manner.

For nearly 30 years AMH have been creating customised workspaces for businesses offering design, fit-out and furniture to help companies achieve highly optimised work environments.

AMH created the role of Sites Manager following feedback from a customer survey, which identified the need for a full time roving manager to provide a good line of communication back to the office regarding any site issues.

Ian Moir, Managing Director at AMH Workspace commented: ‘We have developed the new role for Steven as part of our ongoing quality improvement programme, to demonstrate our commitment to both customer service and staff development. We are confident that the additional service provided by Steven will make a difference to our customer’s experience, whilst providing our site staff with effective leadership and guidance from one of our most respected team members.’

In order to help Steven fulfil his new role AMH are investing in specialist management training including an SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification and an IOSH (The Institute of Occupational Safety & Health) safety management course.

Steven Kirby, Sites Manager, commented: ‘I am delighted to be given this fantastic opportunity. After 22 years with the firm I feel that I am in a good position to share my skills and knowledge with the site teams. I am ready to take on the challenge of greater responsibility and help enhance the quality of service our clients receive on-site.’

Steven has worked on hundreds of projects throughout the UK during his time with AMH, ranging from providing glass wall partitioning and bespoke furniture to full office fit-outs. AMH Workspace has built up an impressive portfolio of clients including global PLC’s, local SMEs and public sector organisations.
