Business battle-axe arrives in Darlington to handle taxaffairs

Self-appointed Business Battle-axe Amanda Vigar, founder and Managing Partner of the V&A Vigar Group, has arrived in Darlington to handle the tax affairs of the area’s businesses.

V&A Vigar & Co (Darlington) LLP, an accountancy firm that deals with the tax and other financial affairs of small and medium-sized businesses and owner managers, is opening its first office in the North East. The firm, which already has offices in Peterborough, Huddersfield and Cambridgeshire, is moving to offices on Victoria Road in Darlington.

Amanda Vigar, who writes a regular blog at http://businessbattle-axe.blogspot.co.uk, and is a columnist in West Yorkshire, has partnered with Sue Gudgeon, a Darlington-based business support consultant and tax investigations specialist, to launch the new venture.

The group, which was established ten years ago, prides itself on its commitment to ‘localism’ after establishing strong connections in each of the regions in which it operates.

Amanda Vigar heads up a team of Chartered Accountants, Chartered Tax Advisers, Chartered Management Accountants and Accounting Technicians serving clients throughout the UK.

Amanda, who has trained and qualified as an accountant, tax adviser and as a barrister, said: “I’m delighted, and very excited, to now have a base in Darlington and to be in a position to help small and medium sized businesses in particular to get their financial affairs in order. Now, more than ever, it’s important for owner managers to have access to an accountancy service where they can enjoy a high and sustained level of service and which makes them aware of any issues that might arise before they happen.

“We already have clients in the region as well as a satellite office and considered that the time was right to establish a permanent base in the region. Darlington has excellent transport links and is well situated for our clients based in the North East and Yorkshire regions.”

“As a firm, we specialise in working with small and medium sized businesses where cash flow is king. We are used to providing wide-ranging advice on tax affairs to smaller businesses although the group does have much bigger clients too.

“We can provide business budgeting and forecasting advice to businesses, advice and action plans on chasing up creditors and financial strategy. Within the team we also have specialist Corporate Finance expertise”

Sue Gudgeon: “I am delighted to partner with Amanda in setting up the business in Darlington. The decision to establish a base in the town was an easy one to make, as Amanda and I are friends, having first worked together almost 20 years ago. Because of that, we know each other’s strengths well. We’re both looking forward to spearheading the establishment of the business in the region. Darlington is a fantastic town with a fantastic future.”
