Online shopping software firm creates new jobs
ONE of the North East’s fastest- growing software companies is looking to expand its workforce after attracting a number of new big-brand clients.
Since setting up near Sunderland in 2010, **Sale**Cycle has seen staff numbers swell to over 30 to meet demand for their services from major international clients including Monsoon, Sony, Hertz and Mango.
The company, based at Rainton Bridge Business Park, help retailers recover lost sales from online shopping carts through their innovative technology.
With over 70% of would-be online sales not completed, **Sale**Cycle’s software monitors abandoned carts and creates personalised emails to buyers to remind them of their potential purchase.
The company saw profits soar last year and the staff base double in size to meet demand for the software, which generated £9.2million of additional revenue for its clients last month alone.
The workforce is expected to double again this year, and the company is already advertising new positions, including five software developer vacancies to help implement and maintain its unique technology.
**Sale**Cycle CEO Dominic Edmunds said: “We’ve seen incredible growth over the past 12 months, but what excites me most is the next 12.
“We are looking at 200% growth and attracting even more global brands. We are building something remarkable and with that we need a remarkable team.”
The company is currently recruiting for two graduate interns through initiatives run by the University of Sunderland and Northumbria University to work within design and account management functions and will be looking to increase their staff base throughout the year.
The company, which also has offices in London, the US and Singapore, has ambitious plans to target even more global clients from its North East base and Dominic credits the businesses success to the local people it employs.
Dominic said: “We are proud to be based in the North East and recruit local people who not only capably demonstrate the skills we require to run our business, but those who demonstrate **Sale**Cycle’s mantra to ‘be the best you can be’.
“Our team, work ethic and company culture is set around doing everything we can to ensure our clients’ campaigns are successful.”
_Sale_Cycle have been supported in their growth by Sunderland Software City, the regional initiative assisting the growth of the North East software industry.
David Dunn, Chief Executive of Sunderland Software City said: “_Sale_Cycle is just one of many global companies operating out of the North East, providing world-class employment opportunities for local people.
“In recent years we have seen a surge in the number of start-up software businesses expanding rapidly and experiencing huge growth. One of the key contributing factors to this growth is the skill and dedication demonstrated by the pool of technology talent that exists within the region.
“The North East is increasingly recognised as a hub for software innovation, and thanks to hugely successful companies like **Sale**Cycle, the region is making a name for itself on the global software stage.”
