Tees Valley insolvency business expands into Newcastle

Darlington business recovery specialists, Robson Scott Associates, are expanding operations with a move to Newcastle.

Responding to demand from County Durham and the Tees Valley, the firm expects to grow its £1m turnover by 15% in the next 12 months.

Robson Scott Associates’ new office near Gosforth High Street will create space for anticipated future hires, and the immediate recruitment of a senior adviser to add to its 11-strong team.

Founded by directors Eamonn Wall and John Shepherd in 2005, the firm specialise in advice for troubled businesses.

Mr Wall said the company’s expansion was not due to a mistaken belief that corporate insolvencies were increasing in the current climate.

He said: “Our expansion to Newcastle is a very exciting development for the firm. In the last eight and a half years we have grown into one of the most successful North East companies dedicated to providing insolvency services and specialist advice to business owners.

“In fact, the number of corporate insolvencies has fallen over the past couple of years. The reality is that lenders are much more reluctant now to call in loans to force insolvency and are more inclined to work with stakeholders to keep businesses alive.”

Mr Shepherd added: “We never leave business owners staring into a black hole. We talk them as business people. We build a strategy that gives them a chance to move forward personally, at the same time as finding the appropriate solution for their company.”

“Our job is to identify the options for keeping a business going, or at least to lessen the loss, to preserve jobs and keep people in work. We are good at sourcing alternative forms of funding and we actively try to dissuade people from formal insolvency if we can find another way.

“We already work with clients and professionals north of the Tyne, such as accountants, and we will be working hard to increase our presence and to explain our fresh and unique way of operating.”
