Miller sees demand for homes overlooking Saltwell Park

Leading housebuilder Miller Homes has been inundated with interest in its flagship development overlooking Gateshead’s stunning Saltwell Park – with 28 of its homes reserved during the first six months.

Since the launch of its Park View development, which is located on the former Gateshead College site, in October 2012 Miller Homes has been overwhelmed by the number of visitors to its sales centre on Durham Road.

Miller Homes North East sales director Steve McElroy said: “We have been delighted with how well Park View has been received and we are confident this success will continue.

“Park View offers a range of contemporary bespoke homes that are carefully designed to complement this historic area of Gateshead and to make full use of the site’s spectacular views.

“The variety and quality of homes available at Park View combined with the purchase incentive schemes, that we’re able to offer to assist home buyers, is allowing house hunters of all ages to secure their new home at this highly desirable development.”

It is anticipated that Park View’s first property owners will move into their new home next month. With prices currently starting from £239,950, there is now a range of four and five-bedroom homes available at the development including the four-bedroom semi-detached Nunsmoor and the five-bedroom detached Victoria with Atelier.

Miller Homes offers a range of incentives designed to help people make the move they need, and now potential homebuyers can take advantage of the new Government-backed Help to Buy scheme, which is available to home movers as well as first-time buyers.

The scheme offers assistance for buyers who only have a small deposit of around 5% through the provision of a 20% equity loan from the Government for those who meet the qualifying criteria, meaning buyers could only need to secure up to a 75% mortgage from a provider.

Steve continued: “In addition to our purchase incentive schemes those who choose a new home from Miller will also benefit from our two year customer care service, a 10-year industry guarantee offered by the NHBC and improved energy efficiency, which could substantially reduce energy bills.”

Park View is a 9.77 acre site offering 175 bespoke properties including one and two bedroom apartments and three, four and five bedroom homes in Low Fell. As Miller Homes’ flagship development a sustainable approach has been taken with all homes being built to an improvement to the building regulations standard for the site, with a 10 percent reduction in the energy demand and CO2 emissions.

Over 90 percent of materials from the demolished Gateshead College buildings for reuse or recycling in order to reduce the impact on the local environment and the amount of waste going to landfill, including stonework from the original buildings which is being incorporated into the new development.
