Designer’s unique software creates tailor-made doors
A digital company which specialises in work with the glazing industry has developed the UK’s first software that allows customers to create a totally bespoke garage door.
The Consultancy, based in Hartlepool, was asked to produce the interactive package for The Garage Door Company. It allows online customers to design their own product in the style, colour and size they want, check it against their home and then place their order in a couple of clicks of a mouse.
As well as being an innovation for the industry, The Consultancy-designed system will make the ordering system more efficient for both the client and its customers.
There are more than two million combinations that customers can choose from and the new online system means they can design something unique, plus find out quickly whether their choices are in stock.
Director of The Consultancy Richie Thornton said: “The package we’ve designed will make the whole process from start to finish so much easier and more efficient.
“For the company it reduces the chances of errors being made as the customer can find out in just a few clicks whether the design they want is available. And because of the speed at which an order can be placed, they’ll also see massive savings.”
The company, which has eight staff and is aiming to increase employee numbers this year, provides website design and software solutions for clients across the glazing, conservatory, door and commercial sectors. It anticipates that other businesses providing online ordering for tailor-made doors and windows will also be interested in its new system.
“The software is the first of its kind in the UK and we think other companies will be quick to see the benefits of introducing something like this,” said Richie.
The Consultancy’s work with The Garage Door Company is one of a number of national contracts it has won. The business also works with clients including door manufacturer Door Stop and Cramlington-based plastic film manufacturer Renolit.
