Dublin private health firm move into Merseyside

An Irish private healthcare firm has launched its first UK venture, a dedicated private cancer clinic in Merseyside.

Dublin-based Mater Private Healthcare have entered into a joint venture between the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust to move into the UK market.

Based at Bebington, the Clatterbridge Clinic will provide chemotherapy and radiotherapy for patients in the region and offers two unique therapies to treat patients with bowel and eye cancers.

Mater now say they are looking to explore other UK opportunities and look to introduce the style of their flagship Dublin hospital.

Fergus Clancy, chief executive of the Mater Private, said: “Moving into the UK market with joint venture arrangements such as this is a strategic priority for our business, which has a long history in Ireland and acknowledged expertise in the care arena.

Dr Shaun Tolan, consultant clinical oncologist at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, added: “This joint venture brings together the skills and care of The Clatterbridge Centre, pioneering treatment and the knowledge and expertise of Mater Private Healthcare.

“The creation of the private patient unit offers a choice for patients with private medical insurance to receive the latest consultant delivered care in comfortable surroundings.”
