BT wins Skillsoft ‘Best IT Training’ award

Global communications company recognised for efforts in learning and development

BT has won the ‘Best IT Training’ award at Skillsoft’s 2013 Innovation Awards. Following a period of extensive judging, the communications company was honoured for its new approach to IT skills development in today’s rapidly changing IT environment.

The ‘Best IT Training’ award recognises an organisation that effectively addresses the complexities of technology while keeping pace with the ever changing standards and systems. BT won the accolade for its flexible learning programmes, called Accredited Learning Pathways (ALPs), which combine a mix of informal technical and business awareness skills alongside evidence of on-the-job experience, knowledge sharing and external accreditation.

Carl Douglas, learning architect for BT TSO, comments: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Skillsoft Innovation Award and this highlights our commitment towards continuous learning and development across the company. Our ALP programme has had a massive impact on both employees and the wider business and is now seen as the key enabler for IT skills development in strategically important areas.”

Hosted annually, the Skillsoft Innovation Awards honour clients for their work in corporate learning and development. The purpose of the awards program is to recognise innovative ideas, powerful programs and inspiring leaders who are helping to transform the corporate learning landscape.

“We are proud to recognise BT for their accomplishments in utilising learning technology to drive results and engagement with their biggest asset – their employees,” said John Ambrose, senior vice president, strategy, corporate development and emerging business, Skillsoft. “It is great to be able to work with an organisation that truly values the benefits of learning and strives to fully integrate it within its business model.”

This year’s awards were judged by an independent panel of learning professionals and industry experts including Mike Prokopeak from Chief Learning Officer, Catherine Upton from Elearning! magazine and Andrew McIlvaine from Human Resource Executive. BT collected the award at Skillsoft’s UK Perspectives event which took place last week on the 20 June at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London.

Perspectives is Skillsoft’s annual customer conference, providing a live and interactive forum for customers, media, analysts and industry influencers to come together for dynamic presentations, learning sessions, workshops and panel discussions highlighting innovations in the learning industry. The theme of this year’s event was “Learning Transformed” where attendees shared experiences, strategies and opportunities for linking learning to business value and maximising the return on learning investments.
