Wynyard Hall to offer clients the grandest marquee

ONE of the North East’s most impressive and opulent venues has announced plans to extend its event space by erecting the region’s largest marquee in its grounds.

Wynyard Hall country house hotel, at Tees Valley, outside Durham is embarking on a major £4m redevelopment of its historic walled garden with plans to create a visitor centre, cookery school and rose garden.

In addition, the hotel plans to build on its reputation as an ideal venue for corporate hospitality with the addition of a Grand Marquee, which will not only offer business and leisure guests an alternative venue for their conference or celebration but will increase the venue’s single space capacity.

The new marquee, the biggest in the North East at 1,600sqft, will be erected at the edge of the walled garden amid Wynyard’s historic parkland and within sight of the Hall itself.

Not only will it be able to accommodate up to 400 guests - making it an ideal choice for large-scale events such as weddings, conferences and exhibitions – but it will also house a dedicated kitchen and high-specification fitted washrooms.

Semi-permanent, its sophisticated roof and heating system will ensure it is more weather proof than a regular marquee and can be comfortably used in the winter months as well as in the summer.

The Grand Marquee will also boats extra-large windows with uninterrupted views of the parkland and the Hall, timber flooring, a wrap-around outdoor terrace and a design that enables the space to be divided in a number of configurations.

“The marquee will be a superb addition to our existing facilities,” said Allison Antonopoulos, Managing Director.

“Not only will it enable us to host far larger single events but it will give our corporate clients a unique, self-contained venue for everything from large-scale conferences to product launches in a beautiful, countryside location.”

Along with a selection of opulent State Rooms within the main building, which can accommodate between five and 250 people, Wynyard Hall is surrounded by 150 acres of grounds, making it an ideal choice for outdoor team building events such as clay pigeon shooting and archery.

In addition, the lakeside Spa offers corporate visitors a wide range of treatments and facilities and provides an ideal way of rewarding staff, relaxing before or after a meeting or event, or entertaining clients.
