Dan Weatherspoon and Chris Davison have recently set up nutrition consultancy, Custom Diets, in the North East. Their business advises on weight management nutrition and delivers fitness plans as personalised service. They take Bdaily behind the business.

What key challenges has your company recently faced?

Our biggest achievement in the past 12 month is reaching a 99% success rating with our clients. Whether it has been muscle gain, fat loss, weight management or strength & conditioning clients have flourished from the personal aspect of the business. Word of month has clearly been a great measurement of how our clients feel while spend time with us, on average we have 3 referrals per client.

What is your biggest achievement over the past 12 months?

Being recognised by other long established companies in this industry has also promoted the professionalism of custom diets and showed how exciting the future is for us.

What is your biggest focus for the coming year?

We are aiming to expand like every business does, but at a sensible rate as our main focus is client satisfaction and keeping the uniqueness of the personal aspect the true drive and success of us. Growth has far exceeded the business plans expectations with the female weight management programme in great demand, the combination of controlled nutrition and a life style based fitness plan is showing true results and as importantly enjoyable and sustainable.

If you had to choose one top piece of advice for someone just starting out in business, or is currently operating within your industry sector, what would it be?

Giving advice away from nutrition is definitely an oddity for me, but I have personally learnt that having a strong structured business plan and setting realistic targets has kept me focused on the foundations of the business, everything else has built around me. Definitely know your product and only promote what you would love to have yourself. Every client I deal with I want to know personally and understand their reasoning for contacting us so I can truly deliver the perfect package for them.

Can you share with us your view of the current landscape of business, in your region or generally, and where your organisation sits within it?

We are so excited to be based in the north east, over the past few years the region has gone from strength to strength with new business parks and enterprises sprouting up everywhere. Although we are predominantly an online consultancy we are soon to be bring the female weight management (FWM) plan to large community groups and people around the region offering a weekly meeting group. What we offer within the FWM community programme is again very personal and one to one based, there’s no other company with our experience, background and qualifications providing such a service.
