Work starts on high quality homes in Durham

The construction of 14 new family homes in one of the most popular areas of Durham City will commence on site this week.

Housing developer Keepmoat will build a mix of three and four bedroom detached homes in Newton Hall, Durham making it ideal for first time buyers, young professionals and families.

The new homes, which will be available to buy off plan in August, will be developed on the site of the old Finchdale Primary School.

Work will now commence on the £2.6 million development after planning permission was granted by Durham County Council’s planning committee.

Entrance to the new development will be from Canterbury Road. Each home will also include a garage, off-street parking and private gardens. As part of its commitment to the local community, Keepmoat is also contributing £26,000 towards recreational and playspace improvements and public art installations.

Richard Bass, new build managing director from Keepmoat said: “We are pleased that planning permission was granted and the development of these high quality new homes will commence on site next week.

“Throughout the pre-planning stages, we consulted with and listened to local residents and amended and improved our plans to reflect their comments.”

First completions of the new homes are expected to be complete early in 2014 and people can reserve off plan by contacting Keepmoat on 0191 495 4500 or visiting www.keepmoat.com.
