Allstar and the AA collaborate to aid motorists

There are almost 35million licensed vehicles in the UK, of which the AA alone attends more than one-in-ten at the roadside each year following a breakdown.

For customers of Allstar, the UK’s leading fuel card provider, the worry of drivers stranded at the roadside is no longer an issue thanks to the launch of the new Allstar Plus - AA Breakdown and Fuel Assist – service available to all existing and new customers.

Allstar Plus is a series of value added services provided exclusively for Allstar fuel card customers. Every Allstar card is already activated with the new service. There is no additional account or card fee for this service and no annual membership charges with the AA.

The first services available through Allstar Plus are facilitated by the AA, the UK’s leading breakdown service. The pay-for-use roadside recovery service guarantees roadside assistance to any broken down vehicle and recovery to either a requested location or the nearest repair centre and at discounted prices.

For the around 400 drivers who misfuel each day, the pay-for-use AA Fuel Assist service ensures a technician visits the vehicle on the forecourt, drains the fuel system and gets the vehicle back on the road. Putting petrol in a diesel vehicle costs British motorists over £800million a year in repairs; AA Fuel Assist ensures the incorrect fuel is removed from the tank before it leaves the forecourt and causes an expensive repair bill.

“For fleets wishing to minimise overheads, pay for use vehicle breakdown and Fuel Assist cover offers a flexible alternative to paying an annual fee for a service which may never be used,” said Paul Baker, Head of Networks at Allstar Business Solutions. “Allstar has the UK’s largest fuel network and the AA is the UK’s leading breakdown service with more dedicated patrols than anyone else. This combined market leading expertise means we are able to provide an unsurpassed service to our customers who, in addition, also have access to Allstar’s bulk buying discounts.”

Roger Williams, the AA’s Director of Fleet Services, said of the launch: “Our patrols fix four out of every five cars at the roadside which is essential to keep the UK’s business fleet moving and our economy flowing. Through the new Allstar Plus AA Breakdown service, we are able to extend our assistance to Allstar’s customer team ensuring drivers are not left stranded if a breakdown should occur, getting you back on the road, or safely to a repair garage, as soon as possible.”

Paul Baker continues: “At Allstar we work closely with our clients to understand how we can further support their business needs and, as such, are continuously developing new products and services. We will be further developing the services available through Allstar Plus and have a number of new product launches planned for this year.”
