'Meet the Builder' behind £14m Nottingham homes scheme
Housing and regeneration specialist Keepmoat is inviting Nottingham residents to find out more about plans to build 142 new homes in Lenton.
The new homes are being built by Keepmoat, in partnership with Nottingham City Homes and Nottingham City Council, on the site of five high-rise tower blocks in Park Street and Lombard Close, which are being demolished to make way for the £14m project.
The new development will be made up of a mixture of one and two bedroom flats for general use, a 54-bed independent living scheme for the over 60’s, 16 bungalows and a mix of two and three bedroom family homes.
Keepmoat is holding a ‘Meet the Builder’ event today (Thursday, July 18) to allow local residents to find out more and ask questions about the scheme.
As part of the new development, Keepmoat has pledged to create apprenticeship and training opportunities for local people, along with using a local supply chain and labour, wherever possible.
Nathan Brough, Regional Operations Manager at Keepmoat said: “This is a great opportunity for the community to find out more about the regeneration taking place in this historic part of Nottingham.
“Local residents will have questions on when and how we will carry out the regeneration work in Lenton and this event will allow them to find out more about the scheme.”
Nottingham City Homes’ Chief Executive Nick Murphy said: “Local people have been involved in the programme to redevelop this area since the proposals were first announced.
“This event gives them the chance to update themselves on the progress of the scheme as well as meet the company which will be their neighbours over the next couple of years.”
Councillor Alex Ball, Nottingham City Council’s Executive Assistant with responsibility for Housing and Regeneration, said: “These new homes will regenerate Lenton as part of the biggest investment in housing in Nottingham in a generation.
“This significant investment will help meet the needs of our citizens in Lenton as well as transforming this area and providing new jobs and training opportunities in the city.”
Work on the development, which was procured through the Efficiency East Midlands framework, is due to start in September and continue until 2017.
Those wishing to attend are invited to drop in any time during the session, which will run from 3pm to 7pm at Thomas Helwys Baptist Church, Church Street, Lenton, Nottingham, NG7 1SJ.
Please feel free to come along during this time to meet representatives from Keepmoat, Nottingham City Homes and Nottingham City Council, who will be happy to answer any questions you have about the planned work.
