Local law firm launches Merseyside Independent Business Awards to mark 200 years in business
A new awards ceremony is being launched in Merseyside to celebrate the region’s rich abundance of successful independent businesses.
The Merseyside Independent Business Awards offers an impressive twelve month business support package to the winner of the main prize and could help change the face of a local business in 2014.
The awards are backed by Morecrofts Solicitors and the exclusive winner’s package will include comprehensive legal advice from the law firm as well as a concentrated promotional air time campaign with Radio City 96.7, worth around £5,000.
Bay TV is also lending its support to the initiative, which is intended to acknowledge the importance of the independent business community in Merseyside and help to forge relationships and build a platform for independent businesses to thrive, imparting a legacy for future local entrepreneurs.
Event organisers are working with local stakeholders to ensure the campaign is comprehensive, measurable and inclusive of all types of business, irrespective of size, sector or geographic location. There will be a number of awards including best manufacturing business and best retail business, along with special awards to recognise growth, innovation and investment into communities.
The Lord Mayor Cllr Gary Millar has also endorsed the awards, along with local entrepreneur Natalie Haywood of Leaf on Bold Street and Cllr Nick Small, cabinet member for employment and skills.
Morecrofts is one of the city’s oldest independent law firms and is currently celebrating its 200th anniversary year.
Helen Broughton, managing partner at Morecrofts Solicitors, says: “It was important to Morecrofts in our 200th anniversary year to not only celebrate our heritage as a firm, but to look towards the next 200 years of business and commerce in the area.
“The Merseyside Independent Business Awards is a fitting way for us to commemorate the past and try to invest in the future of Merseyside, leaving a lasting legacy for the area in which we have been delighted to grow and develop as a firm over the past two centuries .
“We are calling out to all businesses of all shapes and sizes to be involved. This is a unique opportunity for businesses that might often go under the radar to achieve the recognition they deserve.”
Nominations open on Thursday 11th July and a panel of professional adjudicators has been indentified to help define a shortlist. The campaign will culminate with an awards dinner held on Thursday 3rd October at The Secret Space on Water St.
