Wood heating winner announced

It was a hotly contested competition and the entrants have been waiting with baited breath but this week saw the winner of the Wood Heating Company sponsored “Grand Colouring Competition” announced with the lucky entrant being chosen from Branton First School.

George Nelson, 7, was chosen as the winner from hundreds of entries from around the region, all of whom had collected entry forms from the Glendale Children’s Day which took place in June.

George’s picture was ultimately chosen from a shortlist of three. Maddy Stuckey, The Wood Heating Company’s Marketing Manager said “deciding on the winner was quite challeng as there were so many excellent entries. George’s picture was fantastic and you could see the time and effort he had put into it.

We are proud to be sponsors of the Glendale show and enjoyed getting involved with the Children’s countryside day. The Wood Heating Company and Glendale Show are extremely well aligned. Both are well established, have a great reputation, and are committed to the rural community in the North of England“

George and the two runners up were presented with gift vouchers and Branton School were presented with a tree to plant in the school grounds.

School head, Mrs Lloyd-Harris, said “We are really pleased with the success of the Glendale Countryside Day and the continued support they provide. We realise how important it is for children to understand the link between food, fuel and themselves in a very real way. Competitions such as this one by The Wood Heating Company only encourage the children to take a more active interest in the countryside and their surroundings”.

The new Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) for householders is designed to drive forward the uptake of renewable heat technologies in homes across Britain in order to help the Government meet its carbon reduction targets and help consumers save money on energy bills. The RHI is the first scheme of its kind in the world, and promises those who install biomass boilers 12.2p for every kilowatt hour of heat they produce.
