Wynyard Hall appoints new weddings and events manager

ONE of the North East’s most prestigious hotels has strengthened its team with the appointment of a new weddings and events manager.

Wynyard Hall, at Tees Valley, County Durham, is already a popular wedding venue, with its own private chapel and a number of state rooms for ceremonies and receptions.

However, the family-owned hotel plans to build on its reputation with the addition of a Grand Marquee to cater for larger functions and has appointed Mariza Ampaza to help promote the existing venue and the new facility to bridal couples and event organisers.

Greek-born Mariza, 42, from Ryton, Gateshead, joins Wynyard Hall from Alnwick Castle and Garden where she spent six years as event sales manager following a seven year stint in sales at Matfen Hall, near Hexham.

“We are delighted Mariza is joining us as we embark on a £4m redevelopment of our walled garden which will incorporate not only the marquee but also a visitor centre, rose garden and space for all manner of social and corporate hospitality,” said Wynyard Hall managing director Allison Antonopoulos.

The new marquee, the biggest in the North East at 1,600sq ft, will be erected at the edge of the estate’s walled garden within sight of the Hall itself and will be available for weddings and events by spring 2014.

Not only will it be able to accommodate up to 600 guests but its unique design will enable the space to be divided for smaller celebrations and a wrap around outdoor terrace and large French windows on three sides will give guests excellent views over the hotel’s 150 acres of grounds.

“I couldn’t be joining Wynyard Hall at a more exciting time,” said Mariza. “The hotel is an absolutely stunning wedding venue and the new development is sure to broaden its appeal.”

Throughout 2014 the hotel is offering wedding couples the opportunity to exchange their vows and entertain up to 60 friends and family in the Hall itself for just £5,995.

It is also offering 2014 prices on any weddings taking place between January and March 2015, providing the booking is made and a deposit paid no later than August 1 2013.
