Shepherd secures £64m North London regeneration contract
Shepherd Construction of York has secured a £64 million contract for the first phase of a mixed-use regeneration project in North London on behalf of Royal London Asset Management and Kitewood Development Partner Ltd.
The development on Capitol Way, Colindale, in Brent, will see a retail warehousing site transformed into a new community with the nationally operating contractor set to deliver 379 apartments, split across four six-storey buildings. The scheme will also include 60,000 square feet of retail space at ground floor and a basement car park with over 450 parking spaces.
It is the second London win in weeks for Shepherd, after the contractor was awarded the £43 million Spring Mews development in Vauxhall, comprising student accommodation, hotel, office space, leisure facilities and a community centre.
Architect for the company on the scheme will be Leach Rhodes Walker with Imtech providing mechanical and electrical services and Walsh Associates providing structural engineering expertise.
Mark Tant, managing director of Shepherd’s south region commented: “We are delighted to be involved with the Capitol Way redevelopment that will further unlock the future prosperity of the area by creating a new neighbourhood.
“This latest win demonstrates our ongoing determination to help developers bring much-needed projects to fruition that will create better environments for those living and working in the vicinity. To this end we will ensure that we work closely with the local community at every stage of the construction programme.”
Joe Crawley, managing director of Kitewood Development Partner Ltd added: “We are pleased to be working in conjunction with the property team of construction partner, Shepherd and leading investment manager, Royal London Asset Management, on this exciting, high quality mixed-use project. The area is undergoing rapid transformation and we look forward to playing a lead role by delivering much needed homes alongside an enticing retail offer and the new jobs it will create.”
