BrewDog cause a stir with sweary website
Craft brewers BrewDog have been rapped for the use of swearing on their website.
The independent beer firm, that has seen meteoric success in the craft beer market, has been cautioned for use of “highly offensive” language on its website.
The publicity hungry “beer for punks” brand had apparently prompted one internet user to complain to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) about a passage on the company’s home page that read:
“BrewDog is a post Punk apocalyptic motherfu*** of a craft brewery. Say goodbye to the corporate beer whores crazy for power and world domination … Ride toward anarchy and caramel craziness. Let the sharp bitter finish rip you straight to the t***. Save up for a Luger, and drill the b******.”
The ASA deemed the language to be gratuitous and concluded the page was likely to cause serious offence to some visitors.
BrewDog have subsequently removed the passage from their site.
