Companies sign up to revamped Gateshead business centre

A Gateshead business centre, which lay empty for months, has been given a new lease of life with a list of companies getting ready to move in.

The Team Valley Business Centre, in Earlsway, Gateshead, was empty and unused when it was taken over by Bizspace, one of the UK’s leading providers of flexible and affordable business space. The centre has now been completely refurbished and includes high quality offices, workshops, meeting rooms and industrial units.

Bizspace held an open day on July 10, allowing companies to look around the commercial premises and find out about the flexible terms available. Five businesses signed up straight away to become the business centre’s first customers. They are Hutchinson’s fruit and veg, NDL Media Ltd, Valley House Deli, Hall FM Security Ltd and Cairnpath Ltd.

Hutchinson’s – a third generation fruit merchants from Tyneside – is a well-known name in the Newcastle and Gateshead area and is run by Dave Hutchinson.

The company’s new unit at Team Valley Business Centre will serve as a base in Gateshead to provide a specialist service to food outlets in the region.

He said: “Team Valley Business Centre is the perfect site for me. There is a new wholesale fruit and veg market just a stone’s throw away and this location will enable me to provide a distribution and retail service throughout the Team Valley. Importantly, we are able to offer extended opening times compared with the market, giving a fresh produce service to people who may prefer to visit at later times in the day.”

Bizspace allows companies to move into business accommodation without signing a fixed long-term lease. They are also able to change their unit quickly and easily if they find they need to expand or downsize.

Dave added: “I had had a look into Bizspace as a company and liked the way it treats its customers. Its business model suits us, in that it has flexible terms and we don’t need to sign a long-term lease.”

Business Centre Manager Stacey Normandale commented: “Dave was one of the first people we met on the open day – he arrived early to make sure he got first pick of our larger units – and we are really pleased to have such a long-standing local company on board. Lots of people have commented on how good the centre looks since its refurbishment and anyone who is interested is welcome to come and have a look around.”

Businesses wanting to find out more about the centre or arrange a visit, should call 0191 375 3930.

Facilities include meeting, training, conference and interview rooms which can be hired by businesses as and when they are needed. Storage space, mailboxes and a number of business support services are also available at the centre, which has a large car park.

The centre is also in a highly-convenient location with good motorway links.

Bizspace already manages other centres in Tyne and Wear including Felling Business Centre in Gateshead, West Fifteen Business Centre in Newcastle and the Victoria Industrial Estate in Hebburn.
