Cleveland centre embraces technology
As more people rely on mobile phones or tablet devices, retail technology is welcomed by Cleveland Centre as Middlesbrough’s largest shopping centre launches free Wi-Fi for shoppers.
“With social media and internet usage so high with people, access to Wi-Fi becomes an expectation and we wanted to enhance the visitor experience within the centre,” says Debbie Anderson, Centre Manager.
The Cleveland Centre has introduced a serious of initiatives based around the use of digital screens and social media channels with a 5,000 plus following and access to Wi-Fi is the latest communications initiative to be installed.
“It is vital that the retail sector acknowledges consumer lifestyle trends and offer an environment with flexibility for shoppers for multi-choice access to information. Some customers like to have the option of buying in-store or to check out items and purchase on line, scan barcodes or QR codes, and some stores offer click and collect.
“Given that technology has a fundamental role in the way people shop and that Middlesbrough is a digital city, we are pleased to be able to enhance the shopping experience, accessing free wifi is very easy our customers can just search for “purple wifi” on their device and log in via social media, it’s so simple even I can do it!.” comments Debbie Anderson.
The 430,000 sq ft centre will also be partnering with retailers to showcase promotions, events and special offers and information will be issued to customers via digital channels.
