Garden music event attracts top-musicians to North East

CHART-TOPPING acts will storm the stage at the region’s biggest garden party later this year.

Glaswegian rockers Texas will headline the Hardwick Live Garden Party, an exclusive event at the iconic Hardwick Hall Hotel.

Texas will be supported by music legends Jools Holland and Alison Moyet at the event which takes place on Saturday, September 14 from 12 noon to 11.00pm and is expected to attract more than 7,000 people.

John Adamson, Managing Director of Ramside Estates, said: “The Hardwick Live Garden Party is a first for us and a unique music event for the region. All the confirmed acts are top musicians and singer songwriters in their own right, so music lovers can look forward to some brilliant live performances in a fantastic lakeside setting.”

Texas will headline the Hardwick Live Garden Party in their only north east performance this year, before embarking on a UK tour.

Since forming in 1989, Texas have enjoyed huge success being certified platinum six-times in the UK and selling more than 30 million albums worldwide with hits such as Halo, Say What You Want, Summer Son and Inner Smile.

Lead singer Sharleen Spiteri and Texas recently made a comeback after an eight year break, and have just released a new album and single, both named ‘The Conversation’.

Jools Holland joins the star line up with his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. The 20 piece band which consists of piano, organ, drums, female vocalists, guitars, saxophones, trumpets and trombones plays to audiences in excess of 300,000 each year.

Founder of the band Squeeze, Jools has performed with Sting, George Harrison and Eric Clapton during a hugely successful 29 year career in the music and TV industry.

One of Britain’s biggest female solos stars, Alison Moyet, will also be joining the party to perform some of her biggest hits along with songs from her new solo LP ‘the minutes’. Alison is known for her soulful, bluesy voice and dulcet tones and has achieved album sales of 2.3 million in the UK alone.

Adding to the stellar line-up will be Britain’s Got Talent sensations the Loveable Rogues along with local acts such as Natasha Haws who will be showcasing her talent with an acoustic set and the Fishburn Brass Band.

Along with live music on the main stage, the Manor Born DJ stage will feature sets from top DJ’s such as founder of Retro Paul Taylor, Allister Whitehead, Pete Wharrier, Michael Johnson and Rob Oxley.

John added; “The music is the main focus of the Hardwick Live Garden Party but there’ll also be lots of other family entertainment throughout the day.”

Hardwick Live party goers can also take to the air in the luxurious Champagne Taittinger hot air balloon which has appeared at the famous Château- d’Oex winter balloon festival in Switzerland.

An International food village will also present a tempting menu of world food from Thai, Chinese and Indian to paella and hog roasts to appeal to more traditional tastes. There’ll also be a Champagne Taittinger marquee, Pimms bar and even a Mojito tent.

The event will raise much-needed funds for Daisy Chain, the Norton-based charity which supports families affected by autism.
