Tiger on the move in Sunderland

Sunderland-based Tiger Filtration has moved to a new 10,000 sq ft unit at Rivergreen Industry Centre, Pallion because of the company’s continuing export success and growth.

The company has just secured a new contract worth around £250,000 per annum with a major new customer which will lead to two more jobs at Sunderland. Turnover at Tiger has increased from £1.5 million last year to £1.8 million this year, and with new contracts worldwide being confirmed, it continues to expand its operations.

Tiger Filtration, which was set up ten years ago, is now exporting its products to the US, Far East, South America, Middle East and across Europe, and has built a worldwide distributor network which sells over 60% of its alternative filter elements for in-line filtration, vacuum pumps and compressors to overseas customers. It was awarded the Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2011.

Tiger Filtration moved into Rivergreen Industry Centre five years ago and took over a second unit in 2011 as the company continued to expand, doubling its floor space to over 7,000sq ft. It has now transferred into one bigger unit to bring together its operations under one roof and allow for further expansion.

Tiger Filtration sales director Gary Ashton said: “We’ve found that our supply time guarantee and high level of service have helped us seal deals worldwide, and keep our customers loyal. More than 90% of our orders are supplied within two days, and one of our strengths is fulfilling one-off, bespoke requirements which bigger companies haven’t the flexibility to do.

“Our strategy is to continue entering new markets and create products which spark a strong market response. Although we are a comparatively young company our senior team has over 70 years of experience in our sector and we are using our market knowledge to grow in the future.”

Sunderland City Council helped Tiger Filtration from the outset, providing financial and practical assistance with start up and marketing support, and continued to advise the company as it grew.

It’s great news that the company continues to grow, and that it is moving into larger premises in Sunderland.”
