Kick start your career in training
In these times of restricted budgets, more and more department heads are finding themselves responsible for the training of their team, but may not be equipped with learning and development skills and knowledge.
A series of seminars at the World of Learning, which takes place 1 and 2 October at the NEC, Birmingham, offers managers in this position the perfect opportunity to acquire key training skills from leaders in the field.
These introductory sessions will be beneficial to both newcomers to the L&D profession and to line managers who work or collaborate with L&D departments such as heads of marketing, sales and customer service.
Speakers include Kenny Henderson, Head of Talent Development Operations at Sky who is set to cover ‘how learning technologies can deliver impressive customer service results’. ‘Optimising sales performance through effective learning’ will be discussed by Karen Fagan, Academy Executive at Kia Motors UK, who will share her experience at the car manufacturers. Tim Drewitt, Learning Technologies Specialist at Eversheds will outline ‘How to make an impact in your training role’. The Institute of Leadership Management’s Senior Manager for Research and Policy, David Pardley, will share his views on ‘the value of accredited leadership training.’
These new seminars represent just some of the industry expertise and guidance at the UK’s essential learning and development event. The World of Learning features over 50 seminars and workshops, the chance to see and sample the latest L&D developments, as well as the opportunity to hear from leading industry thinkers. Alongside this is an extensive exhibition, allowing visitors to meet face to face with a host of expert suppliers.
The World of Learning 2013 is held in association with the British Institute for Learning & Development, the Institute of Leadership Management and UK Trade and Investment. It is supported by the following industry titles: Training Journal (a conference media supporter), Changeboard and HR Magazine.
