Newcastle recording to capitalise on "booming" industry
Two music industry stalwarts with strong ties to international brands such as Sony and CBS have invested £60,000 in a new recording studio in the heart of Newcastle city centre.
Andrew Archer and John Elliott have created Loft Music Studios in what used to be a rundown commercial space on Carliol Square.
The pair have launched the recording studio and production suite in a space that once played host to acts such as The Animals, Lindisfarne and even Jimi Hendrix.
The venture has created three new jobs, along with three internships.
Andrew and John have been involved in the music industry since they were 18 years-old and have experience composing soundtracks for global brands such as Sony, Disney, Electronic Arts, the BBC and Channel 4.
After regularly travelling the world as part of their jobs, the pair decided to bring some of their expertise to Newcastle to house what they say is a “booming” international business.
John said: “To us at Loft it’s become very apparent that the region has hit a thick vein of talent, gaining more critical plaudits and headlines than we’ve ever seen and we want to help make sure it stays that way.
“It’s important that Newcastle has a hub of creativity right in its centre and that’s what we would like to create at Loft Music Studios, and be able to represent the same outlook and quality to match that of these talented young artists.”
The studio is now open and boasts a “no obligation” production meeting policy, where artists can get together with skilled staff to talk through projects.
